This 24-minute journey will be renowned painter and video artist Xavier de Richemont’s first outdoor video art installation in the United States. His public installations can be seen in France, Germany, Spain, Morocco, Mexico, Canada, and soon, Main Plaza. On June 13, 2014, San Antonio debuted “San Antonio|The Saga,” a captivating video art installation on the magnificent façade of San Fernando Cathedral. Created by renowned French Artist, Xavier de Richemont, this 7,000-sq.-ft. projection with custom choreographed music in surround sound will narrate the historical discovery, settlement and development of San Antonio. Main Plaza Conservancy is proud to announce for the first time in all of TEXAS, SATX Pedal Power Cycle-In Cinema! Remember old fashion Drive-In’s? Well this is the same concept, only we invite YOU to Cycle-In and volunteer some of your pedal power to generate the power to the movie projector during the screening! Every Thursday in the months of June, July and August, we invite you to ride your bikes to the plaza, cool down with a nice cold craft brew from Blue Star Ice House, Snow Cones, funnel cakes, corn in a cup, and the best hamburgers in all of downtown for purchase at El Oasis Café #2, and kick back forFREE summer classic films. The featured film will begin right at dusk. We invite you to bring your lawn chairs, blankets, and snacks, but please leave all outside alcohol at home. There will be ice cold beverages for purchase onsite.

Families, join us on Saturday, August 15 from 1:00 to 4:00 at the Blue Star Contemporary Art Museum (116 Blue Star) for “TPR Presents: The Art of Recycling.” Join your fellow Texas Public Radio listeners and members for an event that will highlight new developments in recycling in San Antonio, and also offer opportunities for kids and their parents to create their own artistic projects out of ordinary household materials (otherwise known as “junk”!). Blue Star, the Mitchell Lake Audubon Society, Inspire Fine Arts, Spare Parts, the Autisum Treatment Center, and the DoSeum will be there to guide kids through the creative process. While at the event, kids can also enjoy complimentary KIND snacks. Attendees are also encouraged to bring new art supplies for donations in the new school year to S.M.A.R.T. TPR Presents: The Art of Recycling is a free community event, and will feature activities for all ages and abilities. No reservations are needed and all are welcome! It is not unusual for a line to be formed, waiting to run the trains, long before the opening time of 10:00 a.m. Kids of all ages 'Run the Train' and can become a Junior Engineer Large HO Scale Model G (Garden) Scale Model Lego Train on Display Build your own Lego Model Visit the Museum (open from 10 am until 4 pm) Fun for Kids of all Ages Kids Fun Day is FREE for Children under 18! Kids Fun Day is held in the Depot breezeway. In case of bad weather, it will be moved inside. Some activities may change.
